Yellowfin Tuna Are Snapping In Venice, La!

Beautiful day offshore fishing yesterday, the conditions were perfect for catching big tuna, and big tuna we had! We started the day picking up our clients right from their hotel at Cypress Cove. Our boat is literally 100 steps right from the moment you wake up and meet Captain James on the water.

We shook hands and off we went down the river. With our 36 yellowfin powered by triple outboard Verado’s, we are the first boat out of the river and onto the fishing grounds (big advantage over the rest of the fleet). Captain James knows all the short cuts as well to save fuel and get us there faster.

We had fished everyday this week, so we knew exactly where the bait and fish would be held up. Other captains were scrambling as they are part-timers and trying to keep up with us, but we left them far behind and found our own little honey hole where the birds were happy and the bait was not!

Within minutes of live baiting we had our first tuna and she was a stout 100 lb fish!

Our customer was very happy with his 100+lb Tuna!

The rest of the day we targeted the bigger Yellowfins and had a blast with great company and conditions.

When we got back to the marina, we cleaned the tuna, bagged, and put them in our clients cooler in which we all had a beer to a great day.

We will be catching these through April, so book your trip now!

We also had an inshore trip this week. Many of our customers book an offshore trip and inshore trip back to back to get the best out of Venice. Fuel is included in these trips and the redfish are monsters right now!  When the winds are up, this is also a great trip to hide and catch a ton of fish.  While these aren’t quite Yellowfin Tuna fun, they are still some of the hardest fighting inshore fish and always a blast.
