Tuna Time!!
We absolutely love this time of year! The big Yellowfin are here and stay through April. We are fishing everyday when the weather is right and we have been getting lucky with some great weather for getting to the grounds fast. The fish are on the bigger side of the scale this time of year.
As we get into February, I expect some of our bi-catch species start showing up as well. We are fishing the oil rigs and behind the shrimp boats for the best results. I am looking at my decades of logs and identifying some patterns here this Winter from years ago. We are seeing some of the best fishing in about a decade and by logging each trip it allows me to study why. Conditions such as currents, winds, moon phase and tides all play into the formula, however this year the hurricanes that passed by in 2017 by may have been a player.
